14th Week May 6, 2013

Claro que duh that's a scorpion!

As explanation for my title... when someone obasically. but we like to joke and mix languages with claro que duh! and claro que duh this week has been weird! more explained as we progress...bviously agrees with you they usually say "claro que si!" which is "clearly yes!"

Well the high lights for the week! We found a bunch of new investigators this week! That was awesome! We love new investigators! My favorite we found on Friday(: her name is Natalia. Any guess why I picked her out of our formers book?(; probably has to do with the name! But she is pretty awesome. She kind of accepted a baptismal date for June 2 so we will see how that one goes!

Thursday was our extreme wild life day! So our apartment has a slight reputation for having scorpions. but none of us really thought much about it right? I walk around barefoot all the time! So i'd just walked into the kitchen to start lunch when my compy says "um... sisters. don't panic. just put shoes on . we have a scorpion in the house." Well the words 'don't panic" and "scorpion in the house" don't go together. paint you a picture, sister ninataype and I were standing on chairs and sister kreis went for a smashing shoe while sister Andrade looked at it and marveled at its beauty (shes a bug girl). so she pokes it with a stick right? then it starts swinging its tail around (its just a little one) and she says "oh its not as dangerous is little. the big ones are the bad ones." HECK NO! I'VE SEEN INDIAN JONES! THE LITTLE ONES ARE MOST POISONOUS! Yes I did say that to her in a capital letter fashion. so we smashed it, named it Kohor and now its in Sister Andrade's mission memory book.

That was our fun story of the week.
In spiritual news!
MY FAVORITE INVESTIGATOR CAME TO CHURCH! She's the one who came to our baptism last week! She's my age, with a 2 year old daughter and slightly older husband... I like her a whole lot though! We had a lesson this last week about the plan of salvation and it made her so happy to know she could be with her sweet daughter for ever! :D So much happiness! and we talked about how we get a new body but need to take care of ours. she quickly volunteered the information that smoking and drinking aren't good. so she should stop. Yup my heart melts everytime someone jumps to the right answer without us guiding. so we are buying her gum to chew instead of smoking for stress! Win! So she came to church with her cute daughter and really enjoyed it(: Can you say BAPTISM ON THE 19?! Yup. Its going there!

We also had the confirmation for our two baptisms last week this past sunday! that was pretty wonderful(: I love that sweet woman!

Well I think that's the majority of my huge adventures this week! Of course every day is an adventure in Laredo but those are the big stories I want to share! although I do have a request! if anyone would like to send me coloring books or supplies for a kids entertainment bag for church, I would very much appreciate it! Thanks much!
love you all! Be safe! The church is TRUE!

13th Week April 29, 2013

We've had some serious luck this last week people! We've had a cold front here in Laredo and it got down to a very chilling 60 degrees! We were all wearing sweaters and tights! I saw a lady walking down the street all bundled up in her coat, gloves, hat, and SCARF! this is serious business my friends!

We also had a serious thunder, rain, lighting storm! I have never witnessed such a thing as this before! it started raining Saturday night, luckily after we'd switched from bikes to cars(more news on my bike fun later) then it got seriously rainy. it was POURING. with tons of lighting and thunder. not like a Utah storm. like a serious lighting every few seconds and thunder rolling acrossed the mountainless land! it started Saturday night around 8pm. then ended sunday morning around 11am... crazy right? it was really cool though! however... when the alarm went off sunday we started getting up and just as my compy was about to get in the shower we heard a huge CRASH of thunder and the power went out... haha yay for sister missionaries getting ready in the dark!!! we used our bike flash lights for light all morning. then when we were about to leave for church the power came back! sister kreis was not happy haha(:

By the way! transfers were last week! I didn't bother to tell you before hand because training missionaries don't get moved on their first transfer after coming into the mission(: However in 5 weeks I may not be so lucky! guess we will have to wait and see huh? We did get a new zone leader and district leader however! our district leader and companion are now two tall blonde elders. both around 6'3" so whenever someone asks about them they just say "are your elders the big ones?" of course they mean that with love right?(; we do love our elders however! we gave them a ride to church sunday morning so they wouldn't get their suit coats soaked.. spoiled boys(:

Alrighty... just one HUGE more piece of news for you this week.... :D
TWO BAPTISMS YESTERDAY!!! Yep! My compy and I didn't have just one... we had TWO. Our investigator and her 8 year old son got baptized together yesterday(: It was so wonderful!!!! She was so ready and I feel very blessed that my compy and I were able to come into her life at the perfect time to bring her the gospel! I was going to try and email a picture of all of us before the baptism but the library computers don't allow you to connect your camera): so I will mail home a printed copy and y'all can bug my parents to share(:

Ok so I just want to leave you with one big thought! On may 12(MOTHERS DAY! WHEN I GET TO CALL MI PADRES :D) we are having invitation sunday in our branch! Yes. It will be awesome. everyone is asked to invite someone to church! it is a special day set apart for this! how cool is that? Well! I invite you all to pray, fast, and truly ponder who you could invite to church. It doesn't have to be sunday church, just inviting to an activity would be grand! To help encourage you to do this.. here is my scripture! Mosiah 28:3. I'm not telling you what it says because I want you to have motivation to look it up(; But basically its about the son's of mosiah(coolest missionaries EVER!!!) It breaks my heart now that I'm in the mission that I didn't share the gospel more with my friends at home. it would have been SO easy to invite them to a morning side and offer a ride... but I was always too scared. My motto scripture right now is 2 Nephie 22:2 I will TRUST and NOT BE AFRAID! I invite you to exercise trust and faith in the Lord and invite someone to a church activity. Just planting that little seed can do more than you've ever imagined!

Well that's about all I have for you! although I believe I became a real missionary this week(; I got my first bike injury! No I didn't crash.. I just ran the bike into my leg and got a nice bruise and scratch... and I got my first WEDDING INVITATION from a high school friend!!!! Crazy stuff! But I do love my Becca so its ok shes getting mawwied!! :D Be safe friends family and whoever else my dad forwards this on to! The Church is true and I know it is our job to help others know that too!! :D
Until next week!
